I feel like a coupon novice!
Yesterday I had the privilege of attending a SmartCanucks coupon exchange.
I have been wanting to do something like this for months - and I just happened to check into the SmartCanucks forum a few days ago, when I noticed there was a private message for me from Ashley. There was a coupon exchange here in Durham Region - did I want to come?
As I posted on Saturday, I was suffering from hayfever, and I almost didn't go when Sunday came round. But I was starting to feel better, so I decided I should go. I pulled out my coupon binder, but almost every coupon I had filed was expired - it had been that long since I worked on it.
As I feverishly pulled out coupons, checking each one - my wonderful husband volunteered to check the pile of unfiled coupons on my desk (brave man!) and he started cutting them out for me. Then he sorted out all the coupons he wanted us to keep and helped me re-fill my coupon binder. It looked pretty good by the time we were done - but I was already late!
So I grabbed my business cards, and a pile of freebies I wanted to share and off I went!
The table was piled with coupons, in binders, boxes, and file folders. I was able to share my stack of formula and dog food coupons, and got some great coupons for myself of products we use. Linda, whose house it was at gave us all an Airwick Freshmatic Odour Detect Starter pack - she had gotten many of them for free!
They shared some of their best coupons secrets (then swore me to secrecy!) We had a great time, and then they said do you want to go shopping with us? An opportunity to watch the pros at work? Yes!
I didn't spend any money (I was very proud of myself!) I was determined to just watch and observe. It was an education in couponing.
I look forward to going again next month - and this time I will ask if I can bring a few friends! Do you have a coupon exchange in your area?
