birthday freebies
Everyday it is someone's birthday, so I thought I would share some birthday freebies with you. But first, here are a few strategies:

● Get a separate e-mail address for your birthday goodies.

● Sign up for several offers, then s-t-r-e-t-c-h that celebration by dining and "desserting" out as often as you can during your birthday month.

● Call ahead to make sure your local store/restaurant accepts the offer, some franchisees will opt out of national promotions.

● Bring your ID and a printout of the birthday offer, and be sure to tell the server ahead of time, not after the cheque has arrived.

● When your child gets too old for the kiddie offers, sign up for the grown-up ones.

● If it's "no purchase required", don't feel obligated to buy something. Just say "thank you" and go.

Here are a few to start:

Hollywood Video - free "Film Library" rental on your birthday only; free birthday rentals offered to everyone on your membership account. No sign-up is required; just make sure that birth dates are listed. (US)

Medieval Times Sign up in advance and they’ll send you a free ticket (worth $53!) to one of their feast and tournaments. (US/Canada)

Brunswick BowlingJoin the Bonus Zone and get a free game of bowling on your birthday. (US/Canada)

Sephora: The birthday gift varies from year to year, but it may be bath products, cosmetics or skin-care items. Create an account with the store's Beauty Insider program and you are automatically registered for a gift. (US/Canada)

Disney Rewards Club - On your birthday they will send you a Blu Ray movie of your choice (from a select list) for free, although you do have to pay $2.95 for shipping and handling. (US/Canada)

Aerie/American Eagle - Their free A-List card gives you free gifts every month, on a Thursday. You can also get a free gift on your birthday (It doesn't have to be on a Thursday!). (US/Canada)

Join the Baskin Robbins Birthday Club, and get a coupon for a free ice-cream on your birthday! (US)
Join the Baskin Robbins Canada mailing list, and get a coupon for a free ice-cream on your birthday! (Canada)

Sign up to the Red Robin eClub, and get a free burger on your birthday! Red Robin is located in the US as well as British Columbia and Alberta. (US/Canada)

When you fill out your Avon.ca A-list Profile and tell them your birthday, they will send you a Special Birthday Bonus. (Canada)

And don't forget to sign up for free money! Swagbucks are free digital dollars that you can trade for gift cards, Paypal money and other great prizes. On your birthday, you will get 50 free Swagbucks. (US/UK/Canada)

Several sites have done a great job of collecting birthday freebies, so I will just link to them:

Hey It's Free has a good birthday list - updated in March 2010

SmartCanucks.ca wrote a Canadian Birthday Freebies post.

WorldwideFreebies.com has an extensive list of Birthday Freebies

ILoveFreebies.com wrote a great list of Birthday freebies for kids.

Frugal Living has an extensive list of birthday freebies!

And there are a couple of websites dedicated to Birthday Freebies:
FreeBirthdayTreats.com
BirthdayFreebies.com

Here a great tip from Freebies4Canada.com - Call your local non-chain restaurants, or if there's a restaurant you go to all the time, let it drop that you're trying to decide where to go for your free birthday dinner.

QUICK FREEBIE TIP:
Keep an attitude of gratitude. Freebie hunting is more of a game of being at the right place at the right time - if you get the freebie, you won!
