RockBuds Review: No more tangled cords!

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Wednesday, July 22, 2009 | 1 comments

RockBuds product review - black tin boxToday starts a brand new feature on Frugal Freebies - product reviews! We have some really great products to let you know about, to help you make your purchases wisely and frugally, with all the information you need. I know you are going to love this new feature, because some of these companies are offering us great giveaways for our readers!

Wings Like Eagles RockBudsRockbuds "provides a stylish way for the guys to rock out to American Idol winner, Kris Allen's new tunes." The RockBuds arrived in a cool tin black box to store them in, we received the Wings Like Eagles RockBuds version.

The unique thing about RockBuds is that they feature a built-in retractable device. They come in great designs for the guys - Rock Band, Electric Plaid, Chicks Dig Me, Rock Star, Wings Like Eagles, Green Camo.

(They also have some really stylish designs for women too - detailed with genuine Swarovski Crystals!)

RockBuds - How it WorksMy son Mike was recently telling me about how much he hated going out with his Walkman years ago, and having all the dangling, tangling cords to deal with. Just did not go with his cool persona!

The retractor on RockBuds allows the cord to expand and retract to 5 stopping points for various lengths.... shorter for use on an armband (while jogging or at the gym) or in a shirt pocket, and longer to reach an iPod on your belt or to plug into your computer. Click here to see how it works.

One problem we did have with them, was pulling them out unevenly, and ending up with the cords tangled up inside the retractor. Rob thought we had ruined it, and couldn't figure out how to fix it. But I checked out the instructions and it was quick and easy to get it back working properly again. That was a relief!

The handy clip prevents your cords from bouncing around and the compact retractable device stops your cords from tangling when not in use. Which is a bonus when you are constantly tossing them into your pocket (or purse, for women), where they would end up in a tangled mess!

RockBuds will work with your cell phone, iPod, CD player, MP3 player, DVD player (great for long car rides with the kids!), airplane connector (could have used that, when we flew to Vancouver on our honeymoon!)... well, basically any device that you want to listen to!

Rob listening to his music on the computer with his RockBudsRob is one of our tech and electronic reviewers and so we gave him the Rock Buds to test.

Rob reports: I enjoy listening to music, specifically Classic Rock. I usually listen to my music while on the computer.

Normally I wouldn't use any type of headphones or earbuds for listening, but I find the Rockbuds quite comfortable. I like the retraction feature and also that it can be clipped to clothing for easier use.

Rob wearing his RockBudsThe sound quality of the Rockbuds is excellent as well. Both the highs and lows of the music quality come through. Worth the investment.

Rob loves to listen to his music loud, and since he and I share an small office, I love that now he can listen to his music as loud as he liked! I think we will both be enjoying his new RockBuds!

I don't normally like anything in my ears, but gave it a try for the review. I actually found the RockBuds ear buds very comfortable, and since I always seem to find myself getting tied up by all the wires around my desk, the retractable feature was really helpful! I clipped the RockBuds to my t-shirt and was able to keep the cords out of my way and feel comfortable while I worked.

At $29.95, this would make a perfect birthday, Father's Day, or Christmas gift for the guys in your life!
