In the June issue:

PLAN PURCHASES BY MONTH TO REAP HUGE SAVINGS (p. 131) Many retailers offer deals around the same time every year. ALL YOU reveals the best months to find the biggest bargains on furniture, digital cameras, camping equipment and more.

JUNE BEST BETS: Swimsuits and tools like drills, saws and tech products.

JULY BEST BETS: Negotiate month-to-month gym memberships in July because health clubs are trying to keep quotas throughout the summer. Deals abound for furniture as stores make room for new lines, according to the American Home Furnishing Alliance.

AUGUST BEST BETS: Air conditioners, lawn mowers, yard equipment, computers and camping equipment can be found at discounts in August.

FREE SUMMER ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN - ALL YOU recommends creative free activities for children this summer in its special pull-out section. Ideas include:

· Create an underwater spy game in the kiddie pool. Cut a circle from the bottom of an empty plastic milk carton. Stretch two sheets of plastic wrap across the opening and around the sides to create a makeshift spy lens. Throw some cool objects in the pool and place the lens in the water so kids can see them clearly.

· Host your own summer Olympics. Complete in egg tosses, tug-o-war, three-legged relays and sack races.

· Organize an archaeological dig. Use pieces of cardboard to represent fossils, then bury them in mulch, loose dirt or a sandbox. Set kids on the trail.

· Build a backyard fort by covering the patio table with sheets. Decide what the fort is: a preschool, restaurant and so on. Add props such as crayons or pretend pots and pans.
